Artist Biography
Cheri Stearns Irwin
I have always been interested in art and drawing people, which helped me earn a
Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from the University of Texas at Arlington,
specializing in Fashion Illustration. Since then I have studied Portrait
Painting with Everett Raymond Kinstler, Michael Shane Neal, Margaret Carter
Baumgartner, Melodee Martin Ramirez, and Dave Kramer. I have also studied with
Bruce Peil, Lois Griffel, landscape artists and Martha Howell and Barbara
McFarland in more experimental art. As a culmination of all of these
experiences, I have been doing portraits of people in the most flattering poses
possible. I enjoy painting facial features and expressing the personality of the
person.
I am a member of the Portrait Society of America and have attended their annual Conventions enough to be an “Alumni”. More locally I am a Board advisor for Trinity Arts Guild, having been President for 3 years and Membership Chairman for 1 year. I am currently President of The Arts League and am active in raising funds for the arts through that organization. I am also on the Board of ARTSNET a member of Mid-Cities Fine Artists, serving as Secretary.
I have entered and been accepted into art shows put on by Trinity Arts Guild, Mid-Cities Fine Artists, Irving Art Association, Shining Stars, An Artist’s Christmas, and Grace.
I am currently teaching Portrait Painting, in the method of the Old
Masters at Trinity Arts Guild and accepting commissions.
