Artist Biography
Lisa Barker
I taught art in public and private schools for 12 years, teaching grades k-12. I have been teaching privately for the past 8 years, teaching home schooled children as well as adults. Currently I am working on my MFA in Art with my emphasis in clay. Clay is a true passion of mine and I have studied clay artists in the US and England and enjoy passing on the knowledge I’ve gained from these experiences.
I also work in watercolor and clay monoprints and had the privilege of being selected in the New Texas Talent Show in 2006 with my monoprints. As time allows I also enjoy making jewelry using silver clay techniques and dichroic glass jewelry. Over the last 15 years I have sold my work through various galleries and currently have some of my clay pieces at the Upstairs gallery in Arlington Texas.
I am currently teaching a clay class at the ARTSNET building located in the Bedford Boys Ranch. I plan to offer clay classes for the fall as well as watercolor and jewelry making classes. I love teaching and enjoy seeing the creativity of students and learning what inspires them. It is truly a privilege to teach and work with children while passing on my enthusiasm and passion for art.
